Stuck at home during the chaos of pandemic, cut off from the world, it’s a search for new ways of survival and keeping minds sane. This is when old school practices of watching movies and reading books come in handy. It’s the renewal of arts this quarantine. However, movies lasting for only a few hours and the characters being lost too quickly might make you feel overwhelmed at not knowing more. The black and white prints of the books might also seem too monotonous at times. This is when web series comes in handy. With each series lasting seasons and helping you form deeper bonds with the characters, they seem to compensate for the lack of human connection. With a large range of web series to watch including Netflix series and Amazon Prime series along with many others, here are a few shortlisted ones that will make selecting a series easier.

If thriller is what you are seeking, You is the web series to watch. You is a psychological thriller created by Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti. The series was shifted to Netflix in December 2018 and was titled as a Netflix Original Series. The series has 2 seasons and casts Penn Badgley as Joe Goldberg who is a sweet boy working in a bookshop. The series unravels to show how this young boy is mentally ill and lets his possessiveness make him into a killer. The show can be trusted to serve you with good twists throughout the seasons.

  • Sacred Games

This is a crime fiction starring Bollywood big names like Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Directed by Anurag Kashyap this series is known to be very sensational with amazing suspense as it portrays a cat and mouse game. The series consists of 2 seasons with 16 episodes each. 

  • Money Heist

A Spanish heist crime drama created by Alex Pina gets 8.4/10 by IMDB. The series shows a criminal mastermind known as the Professor plays a perfect game of chess as he pulls off a huge planned heist at the Royal Mint of Spain. The series grips you with its detailed character arch and on the edge plot twists. The unique character of the series is that each character has been named after cities and you need to wait to know their actual identities. 

  • Stranger Things

If you are a fan of paranormal, this might be the series you were waiting for. This science fiction has a mix and match of everything, starting from friendly comedy to romance and also fighting action. Writers Matt Duffer, Justin Doble and, others make this series so gripping that it receives 93% by the Rotten Tomatoes. Although the main cast is a bunch of kids, the show is known to cater to all ages of the audience.

  • How to get Away with Murder  

With Viola Davis playing the lead role of Annalise Keating, the mysterious teacher. This intense thriller revolves around a group of law students trying hard to match up with the world thriving on crime. As the show progresses, the mystery deepens and the fans are now awaiting the final season. So if this is the show you choose, you have 5 seasons to catch up to before the finale. 

  • Sex Education

Insecure Otis has all the quick fixes when it comes to sex advice. This feature of his has led him to become popular in school. The series shows how Otis’ mom being a sex therapist affects his life and how he grows up to face his issues. The series only gets better with each season and leaves the audience asking for more as it ends with a cliffhanger.

Prime Video, also known as Amazon Prime Video is an American site operated by Amazon. It can compete with Netflix in its collection of series, including the Prime Originals.

  • Fleabag

If comedy and drama are both the genres that attract you, Fleabag is the web series to watch. It is quoted with wit and humor as it takes you on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Fleabag has been awarded the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. Written and acted by Pheobe Waller-Bridge it shows the journey of a grief-stricken angry woman through the world as she tries to figure out her life.

  • Mirzapur

This series revolves around the aspiration, force, and ravenousness of this uncivilized city. The series depicts drugs, guns, and lawlessness as it depicts the mafia boss Akhandanand Tripathi. The texture of this series is rough and it is an Indian crime thriller with only 1 season comprising of 9 episodes.

  • Made in Heaven

This show by Zoya Akhtar is a must watch as it beautifully shows the Indian white collar class culture. Every episode comprises of a BIG FAT Indian wedding with deeper layers to it. The show proceeds to explore LGBTQ issues and dowry systems along with all the other dark emotions that surround an Indian wedding but are covered under the glamour. 

  • The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

With a rating of 8.7/10 on IMDB, this series is shot in the late 1950s and shows a Miriam “Midge” Maisel with a perfect life. However, her life takes a turn when she realizes her hidden talent and we see her shift from the comforts of the Upper West Side as she performs her way through night clubs and cafes of Greenwich Village.

Other than Amazon Prime Video and Netflix, other web series sites that stream in India, where you can check for your favorite shows. These include ZEE5, Hotstar, and Voot. However, the web series list does not end with the above few. Thus this quarantine is about experimenting with choices and you might find the show you want to recommend to others.
