Kia Motors entered the top five auto companies club in India for October 2019 within just a little over two months of the launch of its Seltos brand. The company has currently launched only one car in the subcontinent and has still managed to become the fifth largest car company, beating Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Ford, among others.
The Kia Seltos, the only SUV offered by the company, was introduced in the Indian markets on 22nd August this year. The automaker has been able to drive up significant revenue from a single product alone. During the last month, 12,850 units of Seltos were sold by the company, paving its path to gaining 4.52 percent of market share in the Indian passenger car industry.
Automakers ahead of Kia Motors in October were Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, and Hyundai. Maruti Suzuki topped the list with 1,39,121 units sold during the period, followed by Hyundai, Mahindra, and Tata.
Kia Seltos price is between ₹9.69 lac to ₹16.99 lac and is currently the most sold SUV in its segment. It has beaten Hyundai Creta, which was earlier the best selling SUV in the subcontinent.
The sales of the SUV from Kia Motors have continuously risen since its launch. In August, the company sold 6,236 units, followed by 7,754 units in September and then 12,850 units in October. The figures are quite impressive, considering the company has just entered the market.
Analysts claim that Kia will continue to thrive in the near future as it has already received orders for 60,000 units. About 44 percent of the orders have been dispatched till now. This comes at a time when the auto industry in the country is facing a slowdown in demand. However, Kia Motors has been able to leave behind established carmakers in the country.
The company had said earlier that the slowdown in the auto industry is not permanent and that customer sentiment will be revived. It added that the company decided to enter the market with an SUV because it believes that it is the fastest-growing segment in the auto market of the country.
MG Motor, another new automaker in the Indian market, was able to occupy 1.24 percent of the market share during the month by selling 3,536 units of its Hector. MG Motor also pushed ahead of carmakers like Skoda, Nissan, and Volkswagen.
Kia Seltos is available in two trims of GT Line and Tech Line. Other options include those in engine and transmission. It has 37 smart features, which include those that the segment has seen for the first time. Kia Seltos review reflects how buyers have been captivated by the wide variety of unique features the automobile provides.
The automaker makes exports to countries in the Middle East, South America, and South Asia through the Chennai Port.
After receiving such an encouraging response from the Indian market, the company has decided to launch two more cars in the upcoming year: Kia Grand Carnival and QYi compact SUV. It will introduce the models of both the cars at the 2020 Auto Expo.
